There is no universally best checkpoint for sightseeing. Use the checkpoint matching your cross-border route and next district, and verify current operating hours and passenger arrangements officially.
Route A: Luohu Checkpoint
After immigration, use Luohu for Shenzhen Railway Station, Dongmen, or a short local stay. It is the practical choice only when you actually cross at Luohu.

Route C: Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint
Continue into western Shenzhen: Houhai, Shenzhen Bay, or Shekou. With luggage, a door-to-door road transfer may be more practical than multiple metro changes; check current Line 13 and local connections on the official map.
Final advice
Checkpoint routes are separate alternatives. Choose Luohu, Futian, or Shenzhen Bay according to the actual crossing and keep the first Shenzhen activity on the same side of the city.
